Frequently Asked Questions
General
Is there a subscription or in-app purchase? No. Bay Solitaire is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions, no ads, and no in-app purchases. Both Klondike and FreeCell are included.
Does the app require an internet connection? No. Bay Solitaire works entirely offline. No account or network connection is ever required.
What information does the app collect? None. The app stores your game progress locally on your device and never transmits any data. See our Privacy Policy.
Klondike
What are the rules? Klondike uses draw-one rules. Tap the stock pile (top left) to flip one card at a time to the waste pile. Move cards onto tableau columns in descending order, alternating red and black. Build the four foundation piles (top right) from Ace to King, one per suit, to win.
Can I undo moves? Yes — unlimited times, all the way back to the opening deal. Tap Undo in the bottom bar.
What is autocomplete? When the stock and waste are empty and all remaining tableau cards are face up, the app can automatically move cards to the foundations one at a time. This happens when the game is effectively won but a few moves remain. You can undo any automatic move.
My game restarted after closing the app — is that normal? No, it shouldn’t. The app saves automatically after every move. If you encounter this, please email us with your device model and iOS version.
FreeCell
What are the rules? All 52 cards are dealt face up across eight cascades. Move cards to the four free cells (temporary holding spaces, one card each) or build them onto other cascades in descending alternating-color order. Move complete sequences to the foundations, Ace through King by suit, to win.
How many cards can I move at once?
The number of cards you can move as a sequence depends on how many free cells and empty cascades are available: (empty free cells + 1) × 2^(empty cascades). The app enforces this automatically.
What are deal numbers? FreeCell uses the classic numbered deal set (deals 1–32,000). Every deal number produces the same card layout every time, so you can replay or share a specific deal by number. You can also tap the random button for a deal chosen at random.
Deal #11982 says it may be unsolvable — is that a bug? No. Deal #11982 is the one deal in the classic numbered set that is considered unsolvable by most solvers. The app lets you play it but shows a warning so you know what you’re getting into. Every other deal from 1–32,000 is solvable.
